Rossland vies for community award
The Rossland Community Learning Centre would allow schools and community organizations to share space and offer educational options to community members of all ages. The centre would be located in a renovated school, and keep quality K-12 education in Rossland (Rossland Neighbourhoods of Learning Committee).
Our goal is to create vibrant, well used spaces to promote learning for the whole community, while maintaining excellent quality K-12 educational opportunities within Rossland. In order to do this we want to create a community learning centre in which schools and community organizations share space to offer a wide range of educational options to all ages of community members.
We would like to renovate one of the schools in our town to have a Neighbourhood Learning Centre, which would create space for community and informal education programs. These programs and services would be available to school students as well as members of the greater community. There are a number of partners that have expressed interest in sharing space and/or providing programming. A Neighbourhood Learning Centre within our school(s) would allow us to create more opportunities for inter-generational lifelong learning, while keeping our schools viable in a formal educational context.
