What’s new in Kootenay business
Bead bonanza
"I enjoy the immediacy of bead making and I never tire of experimenting with a variety of colours and techniques," said Peddle. "I find the process of making glass beads and jewellery both exhilarating and relaxing."
To create the beads, Peddle wraps molten glass around a steel rod, then shapes the bead into the desired form. Colours, textures and patterns are added; the beads are kiln-annealed, meaning they are cooled slowly in a kiln to increase their durability.
The result is a piece that the wearer can be assured is totally unique. The pieces are on display at Signature Clothing in Golden, and Peddle also takes custom orders.
