KOOTENAY LAKE LODGE & RESORT
Waterfront chalets
Kootenay Lake
Lodge & Resort in Boswell offers its visitors a chance to get
away from it all on the shores of Kootenay Lake
|
Set
on the shores of scenic Kootenay Lake in Boswell, Kootenay Lake Lodge
& Resort is the perfect place for a memorable weekend stay. Kootenay
Lake Lodge & Resort affords its visitors amazing views from their
windows or deck.
This past winter, in order to host larger groups, the resort constructed
two gorgeous log chalets. These self-contained log chalets are unique
to Kootenay Lake, as they sit about 24 feet from the waters
edge.
The shells for the two new chalets were supplied by Kootenay Lake
Log Structures. They were built from hand-peeled, large-diameter tamarack
logsmost of which came from the resorts own propertythus
creating a warm and welcoming feel for guests.
This inviting lodge and resort is the realization of the dream of
Klaus and Claudia Sedlmeir, who arrived from Germany in 1998 and purchased
the 7.5-acre property with a vision to establish a place ideal for
rest and recreation.
While living in a private residence on the property, they built their
4,850-square-foot lodge in 1999 and opened for business in the summer
of 2000.
The Sedlmeirs are pleased that their four children have helped out
with the recent expansion, making it a family project. Anna has done
staining, Klaus Jr. has helped with the construction and Antonia has
manned the phone.
The lodge itself is furnished with European antiques, wildlife mounts,
woodcarvings and artifacts to create an atmosphere in which guests
can truly relax.
Kootenay Lake Lodge & Resort can accommodate 12 guests in five
uniquely styled roomseach with a king-sized bed and ensuite.
The lodge also has an 800-square-foot self-contained suite for four
guests and a log post-and-beam cabin for two. Each of the resorts
two new deluxe waterfront log chalets can accommodate eight guests.
Among other features, Kootenay Lake Lodge & Resort also provides
excellent food in its comfortable licensed restaurant.
"Since we are a green resort, we ask all of our guests to leave
their Sea-Doos and jet boats at home and enjoy our nesting ospreys,
Canada geese and kingfishers instead," said Claudia. "Thats
the kind of tourism that we want to promote more of."
With its expanded facilities, Kootenay Lake Lodge & Resort is
now able to take larger groups of bicycle riders and motorcyclists,
as well as family reunions and weddings.
Claudia expects the new chalets to increase business significantly.
"If they rent out well, we plan to go on building in the years
to come," she said. "There is space for five more chalets
on the beach and since our whole development is new, we had planned
ahead and built the septic field large enough for such a development." |
