New and improved facilities will benefit West Kootenay pets
by MONIKA AVERILL
Welcome: Staff members at the West Kootenay Animal Hospital are proud of the new premises.
The West Kootenay Animal Hospital has been serving the Trail area for more than four decades, and recently the current owners realized their dream of building and opening a brand new hospital at the same location.
Doctors Elaine and Rob Klemmensen are partners in life and practice, and took over the premises in 1997. They researched other locations, but the longstanding Waneta-area business is well known and in an expanding business zone, so they decided to stay.
The new hospital was erected right in front of the old building on the same lot, enabling their team to provide professional care for the family pet right up until moving day this past summer.
The striking exterior design houses an area more than three times larger than the previous hospital, at 2600 square feet. There's now room for a separate radiology suite, pharmacy, in-house laboratory and isolation ward-not to mention staff lounge. New amenities include hydraulic lift tables, a larger improved surgery and a central treatment area which includes a dental suite with dental X-ray capability.
Though the facilities are new and vastly improved, the philosophy of care remains the same at West Kootenay Animal Hospital . . . to honour the bond between people and their pets, providing professional service and advice throughout their pet's lives.
They are located at 8450 Green Gables Road (towards the border off Hwy 3A, 1 block past Wal-Mart) and look forward to serving the community for many years to come.
