The luxurious closets of Hollywood films are often unattainable for Kootenay residents, due to the cost, a lack of local labour suppliers or simply time shortages. Two women, Trail's Marie-Helene Gagnon and Rossland's Bridget Blue, are out to change that. They've started B&M Closets, a service providing custom design and construction of closets, pantries and other storage units and areas.

The plan for B&M Closets was hatched after Gagnon was unable to find a contractor to design and build her own custom closet within her desired price range.

"I waited months only to find out that what I wanted was no longer affordable," said Gagnon. "(Bridgette and I) then started saying, 'No one does specialized closets here! We could do this together! With my background in design and yours in construction we would be perfect.' "

Gagnon and Blue help clients de-clutter, organize and utilize the space available in their homes. They determine the needs of the client, order the required parts and install the unit within two weeks. The finished products are designed with both attractiveness and functionality in mind.
