Golden has been seeing a slow, yet steady, growth over the last six years.
Traditionally based in forestry and industry, Golden’s economic development has been taking a turn towards tourism and retail in the past few years. With influences such as the expansion at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, the rising tourism industry is expected to become one of the town’s leading economic drivers.
Real estate in Golden is also attracting attention because of the relatively low cost of homes compared to other resort destinations close to Golden.
In the last three years, Golden’s business sector has seen 80 new businesses open, 15 existing businesses expand and only four businesses close.
These trends combined bode well for a vibrant economic future for Golden.
